About the role:

The Design Manager leads the design process with a strong emphasis on buildability and efficiency to ensure the best possible outcomes. They provide leadership to the design team and actively manage client and stakeholder expectations. With a deep understanding of multidisciplinary design, they coordinate interfaces and sequence design activities effectively.

Our Design and Digital Team brings together professionals from a range of technical backgrounds. This diversity enables us to collaborate and support one another in delivering successful projects. In this context, the Design Manager will specialise in one technical discipline and be capable of leading technical design reviews or assisting with technical issues on projects led by other Design Managers.

Ideally, the Design Manager will hold a professional accreditation such as CPEng or Architectural Registration. As a key member of the Pre-Construction team, they are expected to lead by example, contribute positively to the team culture, mentor others, and support the achievement of delivery goals, competitive strategy, and net margin targets.

Skills Required: 

  • 5+ years as a Design Manager
  • Strong experience within New Zealand Commercial build projects
  • Degree Qualified in Architecture
  • Working towards a Professional Qualification is desirable. (CPEng or Architectural Registration)
  • BIM: Competent in the use of Revit.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with professionals from diverse technical backgrounds, facilitating knowledge sharing and supporting project delivery.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to tackle design challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Participation in ongoing learning or certifications to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge.
